YouTuber Spotlight: Rosy McMichael

Share your story of becoming a YouTuber. How did you get started? What inspires you/ any muses? What do you love most about creating videos?

I was a bilingual 3rd grade teacher in Texas who loved makeup.  One summer I decided to pack my bags and spend my break in LA to attend Cinema Makeup School.  I polished my skills and learned so many things from the best in the industry.  When I came back I needed to find a way to get my name as a freelancer out there.  That's when I discovered YouTube.  I found all these girls who were sharing their tips and tricks and I thought it could be a good idea to open a channel to show my potential clients what I could do.

I wanted to use YouTube as a catalog of different looks.  Plus, as a teen I had some commercial and TV hosting experience so it could also be a fun thing to do.  I never imagined that it would lead me to the incredible path I am on now.  My makeup artistry business took off but YouTube took off as well in a different direction.  It provided the opportunity to leave my teaching job and do full time what I considered my hobby.

Describe your lifestyle (what makes you choose the things you reviews) and a few of your favorite brands.

Being a YouTuber has been the means to come full circle and do everything I have always loved in one single career.  I get to teach others about makeup in front of a camera.  That has to be my inner teacher-makeup artist-former TV host heaven!  I get inspired pretty much by anything around me.  From graffiti to clothing and current trends.  As a young mom, I like to create looks and review things that might be useful to teens, young adults, and moms just like me!

A few faves please! (food, movie, quote, etc)

I love sushi, chocolate and the movie Titanic.  Yep, a regular girl!  My fave quote has to be Carpe Diem (seize the day).  We only have one life, opportunities are few but if we prepare ourselves for that moment of opportunity, we will make the most out of it. <3

What advice would you give to YouTubers just starting out?

My advice would be to be yourself and focus on your talent.  Not because so many girls have been successful doing beauty videos, you have to follow that path.  You will find success doing what you are best at, comedy, cooking or just everyday vlogging!

What is your current shooting setup?

Even though I film with better equipment - camera, mic etc, I still film in the same room it all started from in front of three windows which give me two amazing things: natural light and the "home made" feeling.  I never want my subbies to feel like I am a celebrity filming from a studio.  I am and I will always be a girl next door, approachable and friendly, who enjoys to share beauty tips with the world from her front room!

What do you like best about FameBit?

I love FameBit because I get to choose what companies I get to work with!  Moreover, I love the fact that we always have variety of products to choose from - from tea to lipstick!
