Spotlight: Jessica aka IlyJessicaOMG

Share your story of becoming a Youtuber. How did you get started? What inspires you/ any muses? What do you love most about creating videos?

I started YouTube during the summer of 2008. I had a friend from high school who was already established on YouTube and she suggested that I should start a fashion channel. She gave me a shoutout and had me in one of her videos and it blossomed from there. I loved that I could share my likes and interests in videos with people all over the world. The social media interaction aspect makes YouTube more personal and fun because you get to pretty much hang out with your favorite YouTubers online, Instagram, Twitter, and blogs.

I am inspired by street style blogs and the 90s.  I have an obsession with wearing combat boots with any outfit. I love creating videos because I feel like I can immortalize any idea or avenue of interest of mine and make it real in a video. I  made a 90s lookbook which is up on my channel right now.  The editing process was so much fun because I played around with different filters which made the video seem very dreamlike.

My favorite video to make is a lookbook video because I feel like I get to play dress up and model each outfit.  One of the things on my bucket list is to be a model. Filming lookbooks and making fashion videos make me feel as if I get to live out that dream.

Describe your style and a few of your favorite brands. Who do you wish to work with in the future on a collaboration?

If I could describe my style in two words, I would say girly and edgy. I love distressed pants, leather jackets, dark nail polish, loose fitting shirts, and on the other hand, I love light colored lipstick such as Just Peachy by Wet n Wild and Snob by MAC. I like mixing textures and prints. At the moment, I am wearing a striped shirt with high waisted lace black shorts and combat boots. A few of my favorite brands are vagabond and silence+noise which are sold in Urban Outfitters. I mostly get my clothes from thrift shops but my style could be replicated and found at places such as LF, H&M, and American Apparel. I would love to work with any of the mentioned brands.

What do you like best about FameBit?

The thing I like best about FameBit is that there are so many video opportunities that I am not sure that I would be able to land without being apart of such a rad marketing tool. It also helps that the staff is super involved with their relationships with these companies and YouTubers. I also love the fact that FameBit puts a lot of hope and faith in YouTubers, which makes me feel apart of something great.

A few faves please! (food, movie, quote, etc)

Frozen mango chunks are my favorite go-to sweet/healthy snack. I put Frank’s hot sauce on salads instead of using a normal salad dressing. I pretty much always say yes to Oreo milkshakes when it’s my time of the month. I have an obsession with moons, 90s alternative music, the infinity sign, cutting up my clothes, Starbucks vanilla iced coffee with soy, bow jewelry, watermelon flavored anything, and taking photos.
