Spotlight: Sylvia aka Beautycakez

Share your story of becoming a Youtuber. How did you get started? What inspires you/ any muses? What do you love most about creating videos?

My career on YouTube started as a fluke. Back when I started (over 5 years ago), YouTube was a fairly new thing and there weren't many YouTuber's in the beauty realm. I created a hair tutorial as my friend from overseas wanted to see how I did a hairstyle that she saw me wear. I uploaded it on YouTube because it was the only video sharing site I knew of, and left it there for a while. It wasn't under a few months later that I logged back on, only to see a few thousand videos and people asking to see more! It's my viewers that keep me inspired to continuing making videos, as I love inspiring other people. The most fulfillment I get from creating videos is hearing from my viewers, telling me that I've inspired them in some way.

Describe your style and a few of your favorite brands. Who do you wish to work with in the future on a collaboration?

My style is extremely varied, as it is mostly based on what I'm feeling that day. I definitely couldn't describe my style in one word. Although one of my favorite looks would be the "effortlessly cool"  look, where it's like "I got out of bed and didn't really try but I look pretty damn cool regardless." My favorite brands that I'd love to work with in the future would be Aritzia, Oak + Fort, Brandy Melville, and Mendocino.

What do you like best about FameBit?

FameBit is great at connecting brands and influencers with each other. I have been able to work with lots of cool brands I wouldn't have heard of if it weren't for FameBit.

A few faves please! (food, movie, quote, etc)

My favorite food has got to be sushi! I could eat that day and night. My favorite movie would be Mean Girls or Princess Diaries. I'm a sucker for silly chickflicks.
